Who this notice is about
Astronar is a free, non-commercial beta project for discovering public London events. You can contact the project at contact@w15interactive.com.
This notice explains how Astronar uses personal data when you browse the guide, create an account, engage with events, submit an event or use a Luma link or embed. Luma is a separate service. When you go to Luma to register, pay, provide guest details or check in, Luma and the event organiser handle that activity under their own terms and privacy information.
The information we use
Accounts
If you create an account, we use your email address, password authentication details, internal account identifier, display name, account timestamps and sign-in state. Your email address is not shown publicly as part of your profile. If no display name is supplied, the neutral name Astronar member is used instead of a name derived from your email address.
Public activity
If you comment, your display name and comment are shown with the event. If you upvote, save or mark an event as going, we record the action against your account to provide the feature, prevent duplicate activity and calculate event ranking. Upvote, save and going are separate actions.
Event submissions and moderation
If you submit or claim an event or calendar, we use the public event details, Luma link, any supporting information and your account connection to review the request. We keep moderation, claim and abuse records so decisions can be checked and the guide can be kept safe and reliable.
Technical information
Our service providers process technical information needed to deliver and secure the site, such as browser requests, device and network information, session data and security logs. Optional analytics, described below, has its own choice.
Why we use it
We use account and engagement data to provide the features you ask for, including signing in, saving events, upvoting, marking interest, commenting and submitting events. We use it to operate the guide, protect accounts and the service, detect abuse, moderate submissions and comments, preserve auditable moderation decisions, and produce server-side rankings from qualified recent engagement.
Depending on the activity, we rely on performing the service you request, our legitimate interests in running a useful and safe event guide, or your consent. Where we rely on legitimate interests, we balance those interests against your rights and you may object. We use consent for optional analytics and where it is otherwise required.
Astronar does not make decisions about you that have legal or similarly significant effects solely by automated means. Ranking evaluates events and calendars, not people.
Service providers and sharing
We use Supabase for authentication and database services, and Vercel to host and deliver the web service. If optional analytics is enabled, we use PostHog EU Cloud to measure the usefulness of Astronar. These providers process information for operating the service under the arrangements that apply to them.
We share public information where the feature requires it. For example, comments and the display name used with them are public. Event and calendar submissions may be viewed by authorised moderators. We do not sell personal data or use advertising audiences.
Providers may use subprocessors or make data accessible outside the UK. We review the applicable vendor documentation and transfer arrangements. You can ask for further information about the relevant arrangements through the contact route above.
Optional analytics
Analytics is optional and is off unless you choose to enable it in Privacy choices when the PostHog EU setup is enabled. It helps us understand use of the guide, such as event views, filters, ticket-link clicks and completed engagement actions. When a signed-in person has chosen analytics, the internal Supabase user identifier may be used to associate that activity with the account. It is not an email address.
We do not send PostHog email addresses, passwords, authentication links, comment text, event-submission contents or moderation notes. We do not use PostHog session replay, advertising audiences or autocapture.
Use Privacy choices on the site to enable, refuse or withdraw optional analytics. Withdrawing consent stops future optional analytics collection and clears PostHog analytics state stored by Astronar in your browser. PostHog may retain a separate local opt-out record so it can continue to enforce your choice. PostHog persistence is configured to use browser local storage only after analytics is enabled. We also keep your privacy choices in browser storage and a cookie so the site can remember them.
Luma links and embeds
Event pages may link to Luma and some offer a Luma ticket checkout in the Astronar page. A link takes you to Luma in a new tab. Astronar loads the checkout only after you choose to allow it. The checkout may allow Luma to store or access information on your device under Luma's controls. Luma is not used by Astronar for advertising or to create an advertising audience.
Luma registration, payment, guest information and check-in are not provided by Astronar. Check Luma's information before using its service.
How long we keep information
We keep personal data only for as long as it is needed for the purpose described in this notice. This includes keeping account and engagement records while an account is active, keeping public contributions while they remain part of the guide, and keeping moderation, security and audit records for as long as they are needed to protect the service, explain decisions or meet legal obligations. We review information and delete or anonymise it when it is no longer needed.
We do not publish fixed retention periods here because they have not yet been set and verified for every data category and provider. We will update this notice when they are established.
Your choices and rights
You may have rights to ask for access, correction, deletion, restriction, portability or to object to processing, depending on the circumstances. You can delete your own comment through the comment controls while it is available. For other requests, including account deletion, contact the project at contact@w15interactive.com.
Account deletion is not currently a self-service feature. A request needs review because some information can be connected to public content, event records, ranking snapshots or moderation and security records. Deleting an account may remove or disconnect account data, but it does not automatically promise removal of every record where retention remains necessary or where a public contribution has been retained in an anonymised or historical form. We will explain the outcome of a request.

Children
Astronar has not yet set a published age threshold or age-assurance approach. We do not knowingly design optional analytics, public comments or event submissions around children. If children are likely to use the service, we will assess the risks and apply the protections required for children's information. Do not submit personal information about a child unless you have authority to do so.
Changes to this notice
We may update this notice when the service or its data practices change. The date at the top shows when it was last updated.
